Appellation Fine Champagne Cognac. 65% Grande Champagne, 35% Petite Champagne. Structure: Mellow and extremely powerful flavour. Flavour: Cinnamon, clove, candied orange, prune, chocolate, limousin oak, brioche. Product Benefit: Terroir and tradition. Authenticity. Uniquely rich. Lasts for up to 10 minutes on the palate. Recommendations: Neat. On Ice. With chocolate. With Champagne. In 1738, King Louis XV exceptionally grants Rémy Martin a warrant to expand his vineyard. With 1738 Accord Royal, you will discover an authentic product, deeply rooted in territory and tradition. Behind its classic appearance, 1738 Accord Royal hides a mellowness and richness made up of incomparable savours. Through its copper and amber colour, it reveals a remarkable smoothness, an aroma both intense and delicate, with hints of fruits and flowers.

The label on this light caramel-brown liquid says it's blended "for aromatic intensity." Mission accomplished: The aromas are indeed intense, with sweet, high bursts of burnt caramel and orange peel, opening up to a slightly chocolaty fragrance. On the tongue, this one is a big, solid block of flavor, with lots of caramel from start to finish, adding some coffee and dark chocolate notes at the end. Despite the big-brute flavor, it has a mellow finish.

Sitting in age between the VSOP and XO, this expression is named for the Accord Royal, granted by King Louis XV in 1738, that allowed Rémy Martin to plant vines on his land. Brilliant copper in color, with big floral aromas like lavender, potpourri or floral bath soap. In the mouth, it's very woody, displaying some notes of char, grilled pineapple, and dense sweet and spicy notes of cinnamon, brown sugar and vanilla. Works well in cocktails, but is pricey to use behind the bar. (40% abv)
